Chevalier David Jansen MDA is a professional artist and educator from Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania. and Sidney Nebraska. David studied chemistry in Cal Poly University, and later began working within the family painting business developing new types of acrylic paints for all genre artists.
In 1997, he and his wife Martha opened the Jansen Art Studio with the goal of developing new generation, non toxic art materials while preserving the symbolism and techniques of older decorative and artistic styles of painting. David received a degree of Certified Decorative Artist in 1987 and Master Decorative Artist in 1990. He has also received the Gold Medal from the Korean Society of Decorative Artists, and was knighted by the French government (Chevalier) in 2007 for his work in preserving the history and traditions of the arts. He has also developed several lines of non toxic enviromentally green products for the art industry.
"This life has taken me to places I never knew I would go."
David and Martha met in college, thinking they would be veterinarians, caring for animals, both large and small. However life has a funny way of making us change directions. As their family grew, David and Martha discovered David's love of art and teaching. As a family, the Jansens traveled the world teaching. They hosted many seminars at their studio. This also began the conversations of creating our line of non toxic educational painting products and publications.
While helping the family to produce educational books, videos, paint and painting supplies, Martha continues her nursing career. With over 22 years of experience in Med-Surg and Oncology bedside care, her experiences bring in other aspects of art to consider as we develop our educational line (eg art therapy).
It is with great joy and energy, Martha joins with her family in creating this dynamic educational outlet, the JansenArt Foundation. As a family, we encourage each other and others to pursue the love of art. Won't you join us on the adventure?
Did David and Martha ever care for animals? Oh, yes! Dogs, cats, horses, a mouse, a bird, a couple of rabbits, some fish and a rescued chicken. Now they focus their attention on their three dogs. They can always visit Matt's farmstead when they need more animal excitement!
Jessica is an artist and teacher living in Ironville, PA. She grew up in busy, family-based Decorative Art studio, completed her BFA in 2018 and has taught seminars domestically and internationally since 2013. Jessica believes that studying a variety of techniques is vital for building a powerful brush and understanding the use of color. While her family's studio ensured access to paint and materials, it also instilled the necessity to be creative on a deadline. The early influence of production mentality lead Jessica's work with multiples and impacted her sense of individuality.
Jessica's intensive research of Norwegian Rosemaling has strongly influenced her design style and personal aesthetic. In her recent works, Jessica examines the role of the acanthus plant in classical design and its potential for abstraction in contemporary variations. With a family history of paint manufacturing, Jessica recognizes the importance of understanding artist materials for successful techniques and the longevity of an artwork. She embraces the entire cycle of art making- from building the surface, to knowing the materials, to finalizing a painting.
David Parmer joined the JansenArt team in 2010 by adding his catering experience to our seminar events. For several years he crafted small furniture and decorative surfaces for artists and teachers. As his role in the business expanded, he rapidly became invaluable in both the office and on convention tours.
Today, David focuses on customer communications and shipping logistics. He keeps the paint flowing from our studio to yours. You need something "Ask Dave". He is the main conduit of communication for the entire foundation and our core of teachers and students. Nothing happens without Dave's input.

Tamae graduated from Kobe
Pharmaceutical University in 1983 and obtained licenses as a
pharmacist and a clinical laboratory technologist.
She worked as a
pharmacist in Hiroshima City, Japan for many years at clinical
diagnostic reagent companies, drug stores, and dispensing pharmacies.
At the same time, she became an academic director of the Hiroshima
branch of the university's alumni association, inviting doctors and
others and contributing to the holding of seminars four times a year.
In addition, as an officer
of the Hiroshima City Pharmacists Association, she cooperated in
holding pharmacist seminars every month, and has devoted herself to
raising the level and training of pharmacists.
While working as a
pharmacist and interacting with many patients, she was convinced that
having a purposeful life and hobbies would help me live a purposeful
and vibrant life. As a pharmacist, she
thinks that the products she uses in her business and hobbies for
people should be non-toxic for lives on earth.
She began studying
painting in 1996, attended David Jansen seminars in 2000, studied
under him. She was inspired by the concept of Paint It Simply, which
allows you to create amazing paintings with just one brush and six
colors of non-toxic acrylic paint and started a painting business in
2012.
A few years later, she
handed over the pharmacist's path to a younger generation She
traveled to the United States several times a year to study painting
before Covid. Currently she teaches painting using the Heritage
series as an artist and teacher through real classes, seminars,
online classes, and books to nurture the next generation of excellent
