David started painting in 1976 in oils. By 1983 he was working with paint companies developing new generations of non toxic acrylics. After working for 20 years developing products for paint companies he set out to develop his own line of acrylics that would enhance the teaching and preservation of historical art forms. Today, working with his wife, children and friends, this dream continues. Learning, sharing and preserving while also protecting our health and environment.
DeAnn Meely from Decatur, Alabama and Tamae Inoue from Hiroshima, Japan have been students, friends, teachers and partners with our family on this wonderful artistic journey. Today, more than 20 years after we first met we still work closely together. Art and teaching builds relationships that can last forever. The joy of creating beautiful works of art that inspire new generations is why we always share.
The Willem Van Aelst study was a free study taught online by David Jansen over the course of 1 year. 28 hours of video lessons showed artists from around the world how to recreate the Dutch Masters techniques with new modern non toxic environmentally friendly acrylics. This course was attended online by 7, 400 students from 17 different countries. This was the beginning of our free online master education series. This also showed us the best way to reach large populations of artists from around the world sharing the new techniques to receate and preserve the older art forms.
We have always supported teachers. Art teachers have a special bond, a special love for creating. Our foundation holds special international free seminars so teachers like this special group from Japan can come to our classes, then return to share those techniques. These special friends have been part of our "Jansen" family for over 20 years. David and Martha have made over 40 teaching tours to Japan alone since 1997.
When COVID started we converted our YouTube channel to a free video classroom for all artists. That year our subscribers grew to over 150,000. We added an additional 120 free video lessons which were viewed over 12 million times. We were happy to inspire artists that were in lockdown during this crisis. Today this channel continues to educate with new subscribers daily. All free!
